Jason your friend might not have been able to stand next to a tire and put a knife through it but if the car ran over the knife at highway speed it would definitely go through the tire.
I could see not getting enough leverage to stab it with the knife though.

Jason: What you have here is what we call a "wuss".
Yes, he will never be anything more than a wuss - and you should call him by this name at every chance you can.*
*I kid! No one can shove a 3oz blade through a tire that would take at least 1,200lbs/in2 to penetrate. At most, a 13 year old kid could generate 14lbs/in2.

What happened last Thursday kind of fits into this topic.
While I was getting some last minute Christmas items, I noticed that my gas pedal was kind of sticking, and that I had to almost put the pedal all the way on the floor to get the car moving. When I stopped the car at the post office, I took a look at the pedals, thinking that I would have an expensive repair bill, but upon looking at the pedals, I discovered that the plastic car mat was wedged under the pedal. I felt kind of dumb, but relieved at the same time.

Thats ok. I wouldn't feel dumb about that. How many times have we thought something was broken and it wasn't turned on? Thats happened to me. I thought I had a dead battery once, I thought it was dead. I tried a jump pack and it didn't help. I got car with jumper cables and it still didn't work. I figured the cables must not be good so, walked over to a Walgreens and got different jumper cables and that still didn't work.
So I figured I must need a new battery but the one I have is not old. As soon as I pulled on the battery cable to start removing it I realized it was loose. So I tightned it and there it was.
It needed to be tightned.

I just changed your little 'a' to a capital 'A' - and added the appropriate title (assuming you got your X-mas gift by now). Something bugs me about proper names and starter words being lower case. (Possibly because I'm a paid writer). *** On topic: I had this one time where I was getting no sound out of my computer shortly after I'd bought a surround sound system w/ add ons. I was irate. Looking up Google tips and checking and double checking connections. Just as I was about to package the speakers back up and storm on down to the store I realized that, somehow, the 'mute' button had been pushed on my keyboard. I lived in surround sound glory from that day forward - until the power line to my house fell and burned out anything that was plugged in (shoving 220v through all outlets). Now, I live with a simple headset as 'speakers'. Easier to set up......
