Whhaaaahh.
I don't think the knuckles of Sgt Enforcer is really what we need here. I think instead a clear and honest observation will get the job done today.
Rusty is mostly accurate in that he did close the thread before it got too far out of hand. That was good moderating and he did the right thing there. I'm forced to disagree with some of what you're saying though.
Atomic might not have called Kim out by name, Kim did describe herself as a history teacher and a historian. She was the only forum member in the thread to make that self description. Atomic came on a day or 2 later and said 'so we have a supposed teacher-- ohhh excuese me a historian here to say....
We already made the point on the rest. That does specify Kim there.
As far as everybody supporting Kim, yeah. That should be expected. The members of the forum had been friends with Kim for 5 to 7 years from what I understand of dates and times.
I remembered that they were still willing to give Atomic a chance to explain herself.
I don't remember her ever returning to say either 'Kim I'm sorry to make it personal...
Or even 'Kim I wanted you to see what great things Barack Obama accomplished before being President and his ideas will accomplsh this......'
She never did that though. I don't remember her ever posting again.
As forum members we all had previously enjoyed Atomic enough that we would have listened if there was any reply whatsoever. But there was none.
She could have even said something like. 'Kim we're just going to disagree on this.'
Even that would have helped.
I have sat by [silently] for months to see if anything like would happen.
I happen to be 1 of the 48 percent of America who did not vote for Obama. That doesnt' mean I hope he does badly, but I tend to prefer conservative politics over liberal views.
*try being a union worker with those beliefs.* My union is very Democrat even if the candidate was Charles Manson.
But that's how it looks to myself and perhaps some of the others. We all liked Kim and Atomic as members and Atomic made Kim's disapproval of Obama a personal confrontation. No follow up was made even if it was to keep the stand but at least try to make some peace with Kim and the rest of the forum members who disapproved of that.

There's a lot of nice things that can be said to you too, but that's not the point of all this. The point is more to discuss whether that reply was appropriate and why. There's a similar reply on the other forum that is in the locked topic but the admin can reply to it anyway. Nobody else can though. It's just as well left locked though. Starfish was right to prevent further arguments there.

Gonna throw in my 2 cents here... Ordinaryguy is a dumba ss. Edit: Deleting this post only proves the starfish guy's point. No, you are. You post things just to piss us off, and you know it. The day you manage to be banned, or better yet, run your mouth in real life to a guy who'll kick your ass, will be the happiest. By the way, our issue here has nothing to do with you, it's from Farts.com, the site you hate, so shut the hell up. As far as what Phil says, that's what happened. In my opinion, I don't care what Atomic's personal views were, it's how she said it. If it hadn't been kim, it could have been anyone else and I'd share the same sentiment. I can't say I agree 100% with everything here, but I can agree to disagree, unless the way they post is plain rude and deserves as much. Just like above. I'm not as nice as Phil when it comes to these things. |

I agree with Rusty that is has probably been discussed a lot. Too much, maybe even. Being Kim's Sister I can tell you first hand she was rather upset by what was said and I do have to disagree with Rusty in the sense that Atomic did point out that Kim had mentioned being a historian and teacher. That's just the same as saying her name. Unless somebody else in that Topic mentioned their occupational situation to be the same.
Atomic had every right to stick up for her support of Obama. We have Elections for that reason you can support whoever you want.
But I hope this doesn't escalate into trouble at this point it's really not worth it now.
Like Phil said Atomic hasn't come up to explain her saying what she did to Kim. If it hasn't happened by now that explanation isn't coming so it should be forgotten.
I can tell you for sure Kim did send Atomic a Private Message to try to discuss a peaceful solution Atomic never responded. That I know for a fact.

I said This was "a can of worms" OMG  Here's my part of it. As far as what Atomic Booty said about Geo W. I posted "You are right on!" That made it sound like I was against kimm. She PM ed and I explained to her it was about Geo W. not history teachers and bad spelling . I am just a stubborn proud jackass democrat. Point ?? I answered her PM and that was that. I was so glad it was locked. I loved farts .com. I loved the stories and videos. lock lock lock  the hot topics. |

Oh I hate to see this back up. But I dont think it would be right for me to just ignore it either. So I will just say this.
You already know how I felt because I said it enough. I wont go there again.
As my sister said I did try to pm Atomic Booty to try to make amends in this because I figured if we rubbed each other the wrong way our site friendship did not need turmoil over us voting for different presidential candidates. So that is where I was coming from.
I liked Bush I was and I am not sold on Obama. Thats our society though elections happen with a term limitation on the President so neither party gets rooted too long in the job. Having a different opinion than mine is fine. Being ripped up hurt a lot. I received no reply from Atomic Booty in my attempt to make peace.
I do believe I know my history. I hope I send a message to my students. I had a 3% failure rate in my first full year as a teacher on a state mandated curriculum. The final exams were state mandated too.
I had fewer students as a first year full timer than I would have with five or more years on the job. So its likely my percentage of failure would increase once that happens. But Im quite proud of my 97% passing rate.
As for farts.com, I like sharing stories. In fact Ive been letting off some nice big farts I plan to talk about.

Alright guys I'm sorry I joked about Atomic, it should be a dead subject but how you can deny that she attacked Kim is ridiculous, just because she didn't mention Kim by name in the post doesn't mean she didn't attack her very specifically and viciously.

Obviously this is a topic I would rather just let die, but it has been brought to my attention so I'll look it over and discuss it. Well I have looked it over now I'll discuss it.
Kim is obviously my wife's sister and therefore I know here when I do not know Atomic Booty nor had I been active at that site when this happened.
I think I can see something that is a different angle here though.
Whether you like George Bush or not, whether you like Barack Obama or not, both men are public figures.
Both men ran for an elected position making their messages public to be accepted on not.
So neither Buch, McCain, Sara Palin, Joe Biden, Barack Obama or anybody who runs publicly should be openly offended by whatever the public opinion is.
When you have or seek a job that is paid by the public dollar you are at least subjected to their critique.
That's not to say that I am a tax payer I pay President Obama's salary I should get to talk to him if I want to debate something. He is on a tax funded salary and I am a tax payer but I do not employ him so that concept would be stupid.
Obviously I have a little more position that Kim does on a watched job. I am not a major leaguer but I do perform in front of people who paid for a ticket to see their home team win.
I've been told by shouting fans that I suck. Thats not nice but they have the right to say that. They bought their ticket to see a win and if the loss happened on account of my error... three you go.
Actually even if it didn't if that fan is of the opinion that I suck they can still say that.
Atomic and Kim are not subjected to the same target. A site member is free to disagree with them but not tear down their character to discredit them if the site member has not damaged the integrity of the site.
Voting for your favorite candidate's opponent does not make that a breech of forum ethics.
I don't know what The Starfish was up to calling out Phil. He really wasn't involved other than to point out what numerous people pointed out. Obviously we know Phil as a heavy hitter that's why we named him Sergeant Enforcer. Maybe that was Starfish's way of saying that he feels strongly enough about his position that a heavy hitter doesn't bother him. Maybe he can explain it, maybe it's just better let to go. But as site admin that's my outlook here.
