Tonight I was doing my usual rounds, listening to the CB when I came into range of another Driver finishing a story about his adventures when he was a stupid, young drug user when another Driver (who'd just came into range) asked him what he was talking about.
The Driver telling the story sounded about 40..ish and he said that he was talking about a story about when he was in his 20s - back when he lived in L.A., California.
So, the original Driver re-told the story from scratch.
Here it goes:
Jug (his handle) was hanging out with a friend of his who used to sell the Marijuana and other not-so-legal stuffs (heroine, coke, etc) at his house, smoking joints and playing video games when the Police decided to do a raid on his buddies house.
Jug, his dealer buddy and two others were promptly arrested, searched and questioned.
While they were being questioned there came a knock on the door.
A uniformed (UNIFORMED!!) officer opened the door and a small black man walked into the house holding a large wad of cash. The cops immediately detained him and arrested him for 'attempted purchase of illegal substance'.
As they were searching and questioning him there came another knock on the door.
An obvious Meth user was greeted by another uniformed officer at the front door.
After the second arrest the cops decided to hang around and see who else might show up.
Another 5 people knocked on the door!! Any one who knocked was immediately arrested.
When the cops finally decided to wrap things up they asked one of the drug buyers why they came to the door when there were 2 Police Cruisers PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. (!!)
He said, "cuz I thought the cops were there for the neighbors".
Jug spent 5 years in jail, with another 5 on probation.
Dummies.
"Smoking is bad. You shouldn't smoke." "Alcohol is bad. Mm'kay. You should drink." "Drugs are bad. You shouldn't do drugs." "O.K. That about wraps up our introduction...now, has that weed made it's way around the classroom yet?........."

I hate stories like this so bad because I have known so many. It's disheartening really.
I am not wishing to imply that Americans aren't drug users because we all know they are. But the most frequent guys to test positive are usually Colombian, Dominican, Mexican or Panamanian.
How well they play baseball is a ticket out of a life of poverty. Even if they choose to return to their home country they at least wont have to be share croppers.
Not that it's ok for Americans to abuse drugs but at least if an American gets busted he gets released from his team, possibly imprisoned or maybe probation and when its over he does at least stay in America and has the opportunity rich American culture.
I posted about Pasqual. He was a teammate who made a short debut in AA and quickly reached AAA and I'm quite positive he would have been a major leaguer within a year or just over.
The only problem was addiction. If it was illegal or mind altering he tried it and did it to excess. He got released after failing multiple tests. He shouldn't have been able to stay in the US but someone worked to pose that he was getting drug rehab to clean up his act and he would then return to baseball.
Pasqual was by far the most talented teammate I ever had.
I doubt that he was going to rehab. If he was he was going through the motions to make it so he could stay in the United States he wasn't trying to rehabilitate. I'm not even sure he was even on a regular program. But he was eventually found shot to death in a crack house.
What a waste of good young life and good young talent.
If I was that good I'd have a World Series ring by now.

Losers. It doesn't sound like they've learned from past mistakes either if the stories told sound like, "Man, we had fun!"

Its really a shame when people have a good job but substance abuse is right in the middle of it and ruins the person.
There was a kid I went to school with and he was extremely athletic he had a football and a basketball scholarship but he only lasted a semester due to drug use. I dont know what he does now hes around but I dont see him. I think he has an all right job but he might have done something athletic or at least gotten an education and gotten a really nice job but now he just has a job.
I know stories very much like Mahnarchs that has happened a lot in life these days. Badly enough I remember the player who played on Classicblasts team. In fact as fans we would often say that Pasqual would be the guy who could win this game for us. Many of times he did.
And he was only in AA a short time because he was so good. A few other times he was back for a week or 2 on a "conditioning assignment" and he helped the team a great deal.
What probably happened those times is he was moved down from AAA to AA to avoid substance testing and when the heat seemed to be off he could be sent back. That happened 3 times if not more.

I really don't see any good in it other than a quick release from emotional stress but it would be short lived. Kim is right there's a number of games that would probably have been lost if Pasqual had not been there. It really was a waste of good talent. A huge waste.

No good comes from drug use.

So, it's safe (unfortunate) to say that Classic's team is ahead of others based on false performance?
I mean...does that change things for a team, or the league if one player is found out on something like this?
It would suck if the entire team took a hit because of one guy.
It's like with the Fire Department. If one guy shows up drunk and messes up with the tanker, resulting in a loss of a building (lives) the whole team takes the brunt and gets a bad name in the press.

I wish I could say something more interesting but my reply is the same drug abuse only ruins lives.

I can remember once in high school, there was this guy who was a drug dealer, who was interested in me, but when I first heard that he was interested in me, I didn't know he was a drug dealer. As he was talking to me at school, the first thing he told me was that he was a drug dealer, and that if I become his girlfriend, he could get me a good deal on pot. After hearing that, I basically said that I was not interested in him at all, as I'm not interested in doing drugs, and have no desire to do so EVER!
Then that same year, one of my best friends was dating a guy who smoked pot and did coke, and she decided to try it as well. I was pretty mad at her when she told me she tried pot and coke. I'm just so glad she got rid of that loser after dating him for a week, and after they broke up, she told me that she regretted trying it.
Honestly I can't stand people who brag about past drug use, and the amount of time they spent in jail because of it. Losers!

fartinggurl.....you HAVE to change your avatar. That whole time I was reading that as if Classic had said it - - and I was frightened.
I see Classic more as a guy I'd hire to be my muscle than as some drug dealer's 'girlfriend'. (Though, I'm sure the Mrs. Blast could subdue him with ease)
[Mental Note: Never send Classic to best Mrs. Blast in a game of wits.]

That is more of a sterotype, drugs mostly come from Colomba and Mexico not so much Panama and the Dominican Republic, but my freshmen year there was these gangmmbers that offered to sell me drugs all the rime. I ended moving from that school and I remeber a team mate that everybody thought was using steriods he ended going crazy after we graduaded. Also my first year in College on my te, there were guys who I believed took them as well, when ever I go to workout guys offer me steriods it's crazy.

Hahahaha. Well you could end up as the drug dealer's girlfriend if you end up in the big house that's another reason to be careful. I might need a job come this October. So Mahnarch if you need a few guys roughed up I just might be your contact. hahaha.
On a serious note I agree with Fartinggurl there's no good reason to think that telling people how much trouble you have been in and for what should have a positive impression. That only proves you're a deadbeat thug not anybody you should be impressed with to the point you would go out with him.
Antonio I agree with you too. No doubt there's some American drug users and I think everybody is aware of that. But it is more frequent and less frowned upon in those South American and Dominican countries.
Americans who I know have tried tell me that the South American and Dominicans get "better" drugs too. I guess as long as you're an athlete people will try to sell you things. The latest approach is "You'll feel just like you did at age 25."
I do anyway though. The coaches and reporters keep telling me I'm old I feel good.

Hmm. I'll keep this in mind. But, so I have an idea of your buff-ness:
Can you bench press a house? Can you break a baseball bat over your knee? Can you out-burp Booger from Revenge of the Nerds?
[If I keep this up, it'll end up as an out of place 'Exclusive']

Totally agreed Im half latin with in the latin community Domonicans aren't really the drug users, its the Colombians and Mexicans, those drug users and pushers are often looked down upon in our community because they give us a bad name. It sucks how so much money is made off of people misery.

It's a big business no matter how bad it is. I've seen it ruin a lot of people though.
Mahnarch, I can bench press multiple lego houses. I can't break a bat over my knee but I admit I've never tried. No Booger from Revenge of the Nerds is burp king.

Hmm. I'll keep this in mind. But, so I have an idea of your buff-ness: I have a story for you on this. We were in a Waffle House a few years ago and some kids were being obnoxious and throwing things and being really loud. Classic turned around and said "Hey, I realize it's Friday night, I don't mind you guys making a little extra noise but if anything you're throwing around ends up over here I'm going to be a bit angry." Some time elapsed and a metal milk pourer ended up on our table. A kid nervously came over and said "That's ours." Classic said "It is?" and he squeezed the rim of the pourer flat and then handed it to the kid. They got quieter and left within a few minutes.

Oh! That is awesome! Except for the fact that the restaurant was now down by one pourer.
Hmm...are these lego houses connected? Or, are you benching one at a time? Benching a lego neighborhood is still quite impressive - especially if they don't break apart.

I remember Blastgirl telling that story on the forum. That's pretty impressive I'd bet those kids didn't let anything else land near Classic's table again.
