For sure Mahnarch get well 2012 is only a short time away and the press could get hold of this story and suggest that you're in bad health.

ah mahnarch..im sorry to hear it. i had a peptic ulcer before. if you want my advice, acupuncture.. im 100% serious. went in becuase I had asthma. without any prompting other than needles she could tell me I had an ulcer and that my asthma was curable... since then (about 5-7 years ago) I have never needed an asthma reliever and the ulcer was completely cured!

I thought ulcers were not curable?

I don't think ulcers are curable but they are definitely treatable and containable.

apparently my ulcer was stress related. as many digestive tract illnesses can be. the acupuncture was a major stress reliever and even the placebo effect may have helped. I knew the needles would have to help...

Just an update on this very old thread.
I'm about 95-99% cured. Doc says that my condition is for life and gave me a good analogy.
It's like, if you had an old garden hose that has a bubble in it and is about to blow.
Like water, food and bacteria get caught in that bubble and eventually it could blow. I was only a few weeks from "blowing", myself. Meaning that peptic fluids could've leaked out onto my other vital organs and started to dissolve them.
I don't want that.
So, now I have to stay away from foods with seeds - specifically the seeds - and not get to vigorous with physical activities.
I still get pains from time to time but, they usually pass in short order. I haven't had to take a pill in over two months. And I'm happy about that. I hate pills.
On the bad side; I'm still strapped to a toilet for a few hours a day. And I'm still not passing solids on a regular basis. I've almost forgotten what it feels like to do so.

At least you're on the mending side of this and by avoiding some things that can hurt you you should be able to avoid major health problems.

What sucks the worst, though is that all my favorite foods are on the 'To Avoid' list.
Jalepeno. Tomato. Cucumber. Broccoli. Pepper corn...
At least lettuce isn't on the list. I can mow down a head of lettuce like there's no tomorrow.
